Integration Medicine: Navigating Awakening, Healing & Transformation

How Do You Function After a Spiritual Awakening?

At some point in your spiritual journey, you wake up to a truth that can feel both liberating and terrifying: nothing actually matters. The world is a fleeting simulation, a temporary training ground for the soul. And yet, you still have to function in it.

So, what now? How do you live your life when you realize that all of the things you used to stress over—success, approval, perfection—are, in the grand scheme of things, meaningless?

🔹 You decide how to play the game.

The truth is, life is a sandbox game, and you get to choose how to interact with it. Some people take the game seriously, building careers, families, and legacies. Others explore, make mistakes, and embrace the chaos. No matter what, death comes for us all—whether we “do everything right” or not.

So, instead of fighting the system, why not have fun with it?

Reframing Struggles: Maybe You Like It This Way

There’s an uncomfortable idea to consider:
🔹 What if your life sucks because you like it that way?

Before you resist this, hear me out. Over time, we become chemically addicted to our own misery—to the patterns of struggle, disappointment, and self-sabotage we unconsciously reinforce.

But what if you could flip the script?
🔹 What if you saw challenges as something to enjoy?
🔹 What if you turned the pain into a game, a kink, a thrill?

The universe, after all, is into BDSM.

When you start viewing difficulties as something that turns you on rather than weighs you down, you change the chemical reaction inside your body. You shift the power dynamic. Whether or not this perspective is true doesn’t matter—the fact is, it works.

Healing is Self-Awareness + Vulnerability

Spiritual awakening isn’t about transcending the human experience—it’s about learning to fully engage with it.

To heal quickly, show up for yourself the way you wish someone had shown up for you. Healing comes down to a few key elements:
💡 Self-awareness – Observe your patterns without judgment.
💖 Vulnerability – Be willing to sit with discomfort.
🌀 Authenticity – Honor your truth, even when it’s inconvenient.
🌱 Resilience – Learn to bounce back instead of staying stuck.
🙏 Gratitude – Focus on what you do have, not what’s missing.
🛠️ Creativity & Play – Make healing a game, not a punishment.

Healing isn’t about reaching perfection—it’s about learning how to be human.

Self-Care: Preventative vs. Reactive

Many people mistake aftercare for self-care—they only practice self-care when they’re already burned out. But real self-care is preventative.

If you’re a highly sensitive person, self-care isn’t just important—it’s essential. Everything affects you more deeply, which means your healing practices will have an even greater impact.

Ask yourself: Am I caring for myself as a daily practice, or only when things fall apart?

The Guilt of Outgrowing Others

There’s an inevitable loneliness that comes with healing. You’ll feel like you’re leaving people behind—family, friends, entire social circles.

Guilt might try to pull you back, but you have to remember: your journey is yours alone.

Healing requires putting yourself first. You can always go back for others later, but you can’t take them with you right now.

Rest Without Guilt

Rest is only restorative if you allow yourself to take it without guilt. If you’re someone who struggles with slowing down, you need to give yourself full permission to rest. Otherwise, you’re not actually recovering—you’re just adding stress to the pause.

Healing is exhausting. Let yourself rest.

Tricking Your Brain Into Healing Faster

The mind loves efficiency. It’s easier to hijack existing neural pathways than to build new ones. This means you can actually use your ingrained habits and thought patterns to your advantage.

For example:
🔹 If you’re highly productive as a coping mechanism, you can set a goal that requires emotional processing to achieve.
🔹 If you struggle with self-worth, use your extroverted feeling (if you’re an Fe user in MBTI) to care for your inner child. Treat yourself as if you were someone you deeply loved.

This is what I mean by trapping yourself in your own psychology—hacking the system instead of trying to rewire it from scratch.

Healing is Not an Insult to Your Trauma

There’s a dangerous belief that healing quickly somehow disrespects the depth of your suffering.

But your pain doesn’t become more valid just because you stay stuck in it longer. Healing is not an insult to what you went through. It’s a testament to your strength.

Managing Anxiety & Depression

At their core, both anxiety and depression can be managed by the same principle:

Do one small thing at a time.

🔹 For Anxiety: The unknown is scarier than the known. Instead of spiraling over everything at once, make your anxieties wait their turn and tackle one at a time.

🔹 For Depression: Motivation follows action, not the other way around. Instead of waiting to feel better, just do one small thing to trigger a dopamine release.

Small actions retrain your brain to regulate emotions more effectively.

Embracing Your Dark Side

The world needs less good girl conditioning and more dark feminine energy.

Your “dark” side—the one that’s fierce, independent, unapologetic—isn’t something to suppress. It’s something to integrate.

You don’t have to be “nice” all the time. You’re allowed to take up space, be selfish when needed, and stand in your power.

Fears Are Roadmaps

Most of the time, the thing we fear the most is the thing we most need to do. Fear isn’t the enemy—it’s a compass pointing toward the next level of growth.

Avoiding fear keeps you stuck. Facing it sets you free.

Ask yourself:
🔹 What fear am I avoiding?
🔹 What would happen if I walked toward it instead of away from it?

When you treat fear as a teacher instead of a roadblock, you’ll find growth on the other side.

Your Homework: Meet Your Inner Child

Think back to a time when you had an imaginary friend—or make one up now. Enlist their help to reconnect with the version of you before conditioning, before trauma, before societal expectations.

Ask them:
💡 Who was I before the world told me who to be?
💡 What did I love before I learned to suppress my desires?
💡 What does my inner child need from me today?

Reconnecting with that part of yourself is where deep healing begins.

Final Thoughts

Spiritual awakening and integration are not about escaping reality—they’re about learning how to fully engage with it on your terms.

Life is a game. Healing is a dance. You get to decide how you play.
